OCEAN CITY –The annual Spring Clean-up reflects less debris in town following another year of a successful initiative.

At the conclusion of Monday evening’s Mayor and City Council regular session, City Manager David Recor announced yet another successful Spring Clean-up conducted by Ocean City’s Solid Waste Division on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13.

“The early statistics show the amount of overall collections was down. We collected about 193 tons of debris compared to 219 tons last year. It looks like the resident look forward to the program based on feedback that was given to the employees while they were doing the work,” Recor said. “We had 75 city employees and 60 pieces of equipment operating on both Saturday and Sunday. On a particular note, the e-cycle and the hazmat collections were also all down…overall it was a successful effort as characterized by our solid waste division.”

Spring Clean-up is offered by the Town of Ocean City annually to provide residents the opportunity for free bulk pick-up, as well as a Community Yard Sale was held on Saturday, April 12, at Northside Park.

Ocean City’s bulk pick-up service offers a convenient way for residents to get rid of large household items, such as furniture, appliances, bicycles, carpet, etc., which cannot normally be loaded into a standard refuse truck. Normally, this service does not include building materials, yard debris, etc. However, during the Spring Clean Up the town accepted these items.
