Family Says Man Died Of Cardiac Arrest In Ocean City

By: ShoreBread via Maryland Coast Dispatch

OCEAN CITY — Although autopsy results are pending, Ocean City police investigators have ruled out foul play in the weekend death of a New Jersey man.

Ocean City emergency responders received a call about 3 a.m. on Aug. 16 about an adult male being found unconscious and unresponsive inside the Princess Bayside Hotel on 47th Street.

Emergency lifesaving procedures were commenced on the victim upon arrival and he was transported to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:45 a.m. The man has been identified as Jorge Troca, 38, of Lyndhurst, N.J.

The death was initially listed by police as “suspicious” but on Sunday afternoon police issued a press release saying that was no longer the case.

“The results of the autopsy at this time are pending; however, investigations in the case have determined that no foul play was involved in Troca’s death,” the release reported.

According to his obituary from Buyus Funeral Home, Troca was a longshoreman for ILA Local 1235 of Newark for many years.

Victor Troca told NorthJersey.com that his brother died of cardiac arrest and that blog reports that the man was the victim of a stabbing were completely false.

“That was completely wrong. He had a superficial wound, that through word of mouth, suddenly became ‘he got stabbed,’” Victor Troca told NorthJersey.com.

A phone call to the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause of death has not been returned as of this writing at 2 p.m. on Monday.
