Virtual Food Drive
The Maryland Food Bank is a clearing house for large amounts of donated food. At any one time, we house over one million pounds of food in our warehouse. We are in the unique position of serving as an intermediary between the food industry and our network of soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters. No one else does what we do. Please support us through our virtual food drive.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 130 million cell phones are discarded each year.
Recycling cell phones will keep hazardous materials out of landfills and reduce the need for raw materials for new cell phones.
• Special Olympics will receive between $1 and $100 for each phone recycled through this program, depending on its make and model.
• It is estimated that for every three phones that are recycled one Special Olympics Wisconsin athlete can compete in one sports season.
• Cell phones will be sent to RMS Communications, a leading cell phone recycling company, where they will be reset to their
original manufacturer’s settings, deleting any existing personal data on the phone. The cell phones are then refurbished for resale,
recycled or donated to organizations as 911 phones.
• The average life of a cell phone is only 18 months. Currently only one percent of cell phones are recycled

Atlantic General Hospital Foundation
The Atlantic General Hospital Foundation has just kicked off their 2007-2008 Annual Appeal benefiting the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) project. The implementation of this community-wide system will give all AGH physicians and clinical staff - as well as participating physician practices in the community - immediate access to their patients' medical records and test results to improve the delivery of care.
Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore
The purpose of The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is to empower donors to make a profound difference in the quality of human and community life in Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore - today and tomorrow. The Foundation has been an effective steward of the community's charitable resources since 1984, inspiring philanthropy in the Maryland counties of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester.
PetLife of Ocean City
We are a non-profit feline rescue organization operating in and around Ocean City. PetLife of Ocean City and The International Registry of Animal Rescuers are sponsoring CARRE 2009, the Conference for Animal Rights and Rescuers on March 7th at the Holy Savior Church. 17th Street & Philadelphia Avenue. The conference is for anyone who is interested in making an impact on the stray and abandoned animal issue in Ocean City.
With the current state of the economy the situation will become even worse for the animals already on the streets, not to mention the introduction of a whole new generation of strays as families lose their homes and lose the financial means to provide for their pets. There has also been a severe drop in donations to animal rescue organizations, meaning that we have to do more with even less.
